Customer Review: Fantastic
This DVD along with Live and Off the Record are simply fantastic. Shakira is the whole package from the voice of an Angel to a body...well, that's out of this world!! How could you not love this goddess!!!!!
Customer Review: Bought it for the price. Ended up liking it.
It was available for less than fifteen so I picked it up. I liked Shakira's first major Spanish album before her international success. I hadn't really listened to her newer stuff. When I put it in I was pleasantly surprised. The visuals are great and the sound is even better. To be honest I do skip a few songs whenever I watch it but I still consider it a good purchase for the price.

How many times have you turned to music to uplift you even further in happy times, or sought the comfort of music when melancholy strikes?

Music affects us all. But only in recent times have scientists sought to explain and quantify the way music impacts us at an emotional level. Researching the links between melody and the mind indicates that listening to and playing music actually can alter how our brains, and therefore our bodies, function.

It seems that the healing power of music, over body and spirit, is only just starting to be understood, even though music therapy is not new. For many years therapists have been advocating the use of music - both listening and study - for the reduction of anxiety and stress, the relief of pain. And music has also been recommended as an aid for positive change in mood and emotional states.

Michael DeBakey, who in 1966 became the first surgeon to successfully implant an artificial heart, is on record saying: "Creating and performing music promotes self-expression and provides self-gratification while giving pleasure to others. In medicine, increasing published reports demonstrate that music has a healing effect on patients."

Doctors now believe using music therapy in hospitals and nursing homes not only makes people feel better, but also makes them heal faster. And across the nation, medical experts are beginning to apply the new revelations about musics impact on the brain to treating patients.

In one study, researcher Michael Thaut and his team detailed how victims of stroke, cerebral palsy and Parkinson's disease who worked to music took bigger, more balanced strides than those whose therapy had no accompaniment.

Other researchers have found the sound of drums may influence how bodies work. Quoted in a 2001 article in USA Today, Suzanne Hasner, chairwoman of the music therapy department at Berklee College of Music in Boston, says even those with dementia or head injuries retain musical ability.

The article reported results of an experiment in which researchers from the Mind-Body Wellness Center in Meadville, Pa., tracked 111 cancer patients who played drums for 30 minutes a day. They found strengthened immune systems and increased levels of cancer-fighting cells in many of the patients.

"Deep in our long-term memory is this rehearsed music, Hasner says. It is processed in the emotional part of the brain, the amygdala. Heres where you remember the music played at your wedding, the music of your first love, that first dance. Such things can still be remembered even in people with progressive diseases. It can be a window, a way to reach them"

The American Music Therapy Organization claims music therapy may allow for "emotional intimacy with families and caregivers, relaxation for the entire family, and meaningful time spent together in a positive, creative way".

Scientists have been making progress in its exploration into why music should have this effect. In 2001 Dr. Anne Blood and Robert Zatorre of McGill University in Montreal, used positron emission tomography, or PET scans, to find out if particular brain structures were stimulated by music.

In their study, Blood and Zatorre asked 10 musicians, five men and five women, to choose stirring music. The subjects were then given PET scans as they listened to four types of audio stimuli - the selected music, other music, general noise or silence. Each sequence was repeated three times in random order.

Blood said when the subjects heard the music that gave them "chills," the PET scans detected activity in the portions of the brain that are also stimulated by food and sex.

Just why humans developed such a biologically based appreciation of music is still not clear. The appreciation of food and the drive for sex evolved to help the survival of the species, but "music did not develop strictly for survival purposes," Blood told Associated Press at the time.

She also believes that because music activates the parts of the brain that make us happy, this suggests it can benefit our physical and mental well being.

This is good news for patients undergoing surgical operations who experience anxiety in anticipation of those procedures.

Polish researcher, Zbigniew Kucharski, at the Medical Academy of Warsaw, studied the effect of acoustic therapy for fear management in dental patients. During the period from October 2001 to May 2002, 38 dental patients aged between 16 and 60 years were observed. The patients received variations of acoustic therapy, a practice where music is received via headphones and also vibrators.

Dr Kucharski discovered the negative feelings decreased five-fold for patients who received 30 minutes of acoustic therapy both before and after their dental procedure. For the group that heard and felt music only prior to the operation, the fearful feelings reduced by a factor of 1.6 only.

For the last group (the control), which received acoustic therapy only during the operation, there was no change in the degree of fear felt.

A 1992 study identified music listening and relaxation instruction as an effective way to reduce pain and anxiety in women undergoing painful gynecological procedures. And other studies have proved music can reduce other 'negative' human emotions like fear, distress and depression.

Sheri Robb and a team of researchers published a report in the Journal of Music Therapy in 1992, outlining their findings that music assisted relaxation procedures (music listening, deep breathing and other exercises) effectively reduced anxiety in pediatric surgical patients on a burn unit.

"Music," says Esther Mok in the AORN Journal in February 2003, "is an easily administered, non-threatening, non-invasive, and inexpensive tool to calm preoperative anxiety."

So far, according to the same report, researchers cannot be certain why music has a calming affect on many medical patients. One school of thought believes music may reduce stress because it can help patients to relax and also lower blood pressure. Another researcher claims music allows the body's vibrations to synchronize with the rhythms of those around it. For instance, if an anxious patient with a racing heartbeat listens to slow music, his heart rate will slow down and synchronize with the music's rhythm.

Such results are still something of a mystery. The incredible ability that music has to affect and manipulate emotions and the brain is undeniable, and yet still largely inexplicable.

Aside from brain activity, the affect of music on hormone levels in the human body can also be quantified, and there is definite evidence that music can lower levels of cortisol in the body (associated with arousal and stress), and raise levels of melatonin (which can induce sleep). It can also precipitate the release of endorphins, the body's natural painkiller.

But how does music succeed in prompting emotions within us? And why are these emotions often so powerful? The simple answer is that no one knows yet. So far we can quantify some of the emotional responses caused by music, but we cannot yet explain them. But that's OK. I don't have to understand electricity to benefit from light when I switch on a lamp when I come into a room, and I don't have to understand why music can make me feel better emotionally. It just does - our Creator made us that way.

Open the Sky

Teresa Reichlen of the New York City Ballet is a premier dancer in the competitive and demanding world of ballet but, as a person, she remains centered and inspired by her art. Her poised, serene face, long legs and elegant jumps have made her a soloist at age 23 in one of the world's greatest ballet companies.

Her journey from the Russell School of Ballet in Chantilly, Va to the School of American Ballet at age 15 and onto the City Ballet has taught her lessons about expressing herself as an artist and person. The following are three important lessons Reichlen has learned to help her grow as a ballerina and person. These same lessons can help performers in school, sports and the arts advance their talents and more fully express themselves in their field.

Performance Lesson 1: Don't over try on stage

As the NY Times explains, "Since being named a soloist in 2005, Reichlen has preserved her poise and attained a new rigor in her technique. 'It took me a long time to realize that you can try too hard onstage,' she said after a company class one day last month at the New York State Theater. 'Sometimes you just have to settle down. I would always have good shows when I was really tired, and I think it's because I just did what I had to do.'"

Focusing her thoughts and actions only on what is most essential during performances has helped Reichlen stay focused and relaxed in executing the precision needed in ballet.

This same technique can be used by other performers in school, sports and the arts. Before any project, practice, game, performance, or test, you need to ask yourself "What are the most basic things I need to do very well to be successful? What things will I see myself doing if I try too hard and over-react? How can I assure that I stay focused only on the things in my performance that are the most essential for success and not over try?"

Performance Lesson 2: Have a point of view when you perform

Beginning last summer Reichlen performed with Christopher Wheeldon's company, Morphoses. "I got a lot from that experience," she said. "He is very passionate about his ballets and getting the best out of his dancers, so he was pushing me a lot."

Wheeldon explained that she needed to have a point of view when she danced. "Honestly, that was a very hard correction for me to take," she said to the NY Times. "It's not something you can just fix. Some dancers appear to have a whole story behind a ballet - it's just the way they dance - and I'm not like that." But she realized that having a point of view when she dances can move her beyond executing flawless movements to embodying her character and the story.

Every performer in school, sports and the arts needs to have a point of view about their performance. A point of view is an opinion and understanding about why you are performing, studying, and training, and how you want to express yourself to others as an artist, athlete or student.

To get started, you need to first select an upcoming performance, project, test, or game for which you must prepare. Then, answer a series of questions to get outside yourself and imagine the type of idealized, fictional character you must portray during that performance: "What type of character do I need to play during the performance? What is most important to that character and motivates him or her to be successful? What is important to people around the character? How do I act to portray the character and give a masterful performance?"

These questions will help you journey into a fictionalize, ideal world to give yourself a different perspective about the role you must play to be successful during a key performance in school, sports or the arts.

Performance Lesson 3: Be calm on the outside to stay calm on the inside

While on stage Reichlen appears calm and serene. On the inside, however, she has a different experience. "It's funny because people tell me I look calm," she said. "But I don't always feel calm. When I'm the most stressed or angry I become really quiet. Maybe it's my way of dealing. I don't know if I hold it all in, but it's just the way I am - in life and on the stage."

Reichlen is explaining one aspect of the creative tension many performers experience. It is the tension between remaining calm on the outside while working hard on the inside. Some performers feel uncomfortable doing this and want to express their inner intensity openly. However, remaining physically calm on the outside can help your body relax and send messages to your mind that everything is going OK. Your outward calm can keep your inner drive and intensity in check and focused.

Performers in school, sports and the arts should practice this technique while studying, during practices and training. By doing so, you will find that your inner intensity remains more centered and relaxed, and your actions more precise and expressive.

While Reichlen is only 23 years old, she has lived a lifetime in ballet starting at age 3 in a ballet school behind a grocery store in Clifton, Va. Because of her love and dedication to dance, she has naturally developed mental techniques that helped her rise to the top of the ballet world and grow as a person. With her techniques in hand, you can also grow as a student, athlete and artist.

Unmatched service and quality

Youve heard a lot about rhythm and blues, but its the bass that makes you want to dance. Its the thumpa-thumpa that gets your groove on, your head bobbing up and down and your feet a-tapping. Indeed, its all about the bass - the lower notes that give guitar music the texture and body. In a band, its the bass player that closes the gap between tempo and harmony. Thats from endless years of practice perfecting the craft, which beginners can learn from bass guitar chords.

Hearing bass?

If you have heard the songs of Metallica (who hasnt?), youve definitely heard the heavy tones that prop up all throughout, giving them that distinctive sound that only Metallica can offer. Finally, bassists have entered the front door, and are no longer asked to pass through the kitchen door. Playing bass guitar chords have given bassists the tickets to the front door.

It is easy to learn to play the bass guitar, but mind you, the bass guitar is very difficult to tame. If you are dreaming to hold a bass guitar onstage, then practice playing a note at a time. You will be surprised to discover that before you can pluck a note, you will have to master some hand exercises to speed up your guitar playing.

Whats the big deal about bass guitars and bass guitar chords?

A bass guitar is unlike a regular guitar. It has four strings and is an octave lower than the bass strings of a regular guitar. The bass guitar has a longer neck for longer scales. Most bass guitars have hollow bodies, and the sound that is bounced back has a different resonance and tone. The bass sound provides the low-pitched bus runs and bass-line typical in different music genres jazz, fusion, rock, and funk. A sturdy guitar can take all the punishment, as well as give the best bass bellow.

Chords refer to the collection of tones when played together simultaneously. This can refer to any type of fretted string instrument. There is no fuss about bass guitar chords, really. They are plainly guitar chords played on the bass.

Bass guitar chords always have 12 keys. It must show the major, minor, diminished, minor 6th, and major 7th. The suspended 4th added 7th must also be learned. Bass guitar chords also have notations - names and locations of the notes on the frets and strings, as well as the enharmonic equivalents and the positions of these notes within the bass clef. As you learn the different music styles from bass guitar chords, you will soon be going into bass runs, low pitched bass lines, and soloing.

Raring to play the bass guitar?

If you think the bass guitar is yours to tame, you have to get a good instrument to practice the bass guitar chords with. Check out the different bass guitars to suit your needs. Some of the most popular ones used by professionals are the ESP B50, Squier Standard Jazz, Yamaha RBX260, Epiphone Accu Bass, and Ibanez GSR200. If you are thinking about a good investment, get a Tobias Growler 5-string electric bass guitar. This is expensive but will withstand all that picking, plucking, and slapping. If you see yourself playing the bass long term, then this is the guitar for you.

One can say that behind the great bass guitar chord playing, is also a great bass guitar, and player. The formula also calls for dedication, determination, and enthusiasm. Without these, neither great bass guitar nor bass guitar chord can be played. Get lessons, a songbook, and download bass guitar chords from several guitar sites online. Now, lets hear some bass.

Yes, bass guitar chords can be learned online. You can also visit aboutplayingguitar.com for free guitar sheet music. Check out this site now for free guitar chords, and start playing your guitar.

Customer Review: vocables in unison with jazz piano - nice!
Nice jazz outing! Often, Tania sings the melody line with vocables in unison with the piano an octave or two higher. She phrases her voice melodies like any other wind instrument, say, sax or flute. There are no lyrics and no "solos," scatting or instrumental. She and her small group get a groove going - maybe funky, maybe bluesy, maybe a bit of swing, maybe a bit of bossa feel - then sings/plays a catchy melody on top. It would be classified as a jazz recording, the "Brazil feel" comes out a bit but is not predominant composition, arrangement, or performance. Very nice music.
Customer Review: DON'T judge this album by it's COVER !
I was just scanning brazilian jass stuff one day and came upon TM by accident.WOW.At the price, I could take a chance and glad I did. This woman does not scat (if that is the right term) like Bobby Mc Ferrin---who is so obviously making crazy sounds that only embarrass me at times.......ha !Tania Maria's voice IS another insturment !Jazzy/and slightly funky...... she will MAKE you like brazilian music !

Unlimited music downloads are available for anyone nowadays at online music download sites. Such sites usually offer lifetime or yearly memberships to members who can then get hold of unlimited music downloads for the duration of their membership. Music enthusiasts all like to use such membership sites to download music online. This is understandable since it is so convenient and affordable for most users. What this article would reveal are some of the handy tips we can use to choose a solid site for unlimited music downloads.

1. Membership Fee

Typically, these sites would charge you a one-time fee for unlimited music downloads. If you come across a site that charges you extras or a monthly fee for unlimited music downloads, you may want to move on to another. This is because it is a norm for music sites to only charge a one-time fee of lower than $50 for lifetime access. So be sure to check this out.

2. Music Genre

The kind of music genre the sites offer do matter to most of us since we have our favourite type of songs and music pieces. So if you love rap, make sure to confirm that the site offers it. That said, most sites that offer unlimited music downloads often have many different kinds of music and the selection is quite wide.

3. Media Files Other than Music

This does not matter much to some but if you can get other media files like music, videos, TV shows and wallpaper for your computer, it sure does make the site more attractive to go for. It is part of the package you are paying for so any extra perks do count when you find the best value for money deal.

4. Customer Testimonial & Reviews

The best way to check out a site is to read the customer testimonials. Since you are not a member and there is no way you can know how the experience is like with each download site, you can only rely on the feedback of existing customers. Word of mouth advertising is the best advertising because customers would not lie about their experience. Have you avoided a shop because you have heard your friend spoke something negative about it? See the power? Other than reading testimonials of customers, you should also read some honest reviews written by music critics.

5. Site Quality

When we talk about the quality of sites for unlimited music downloads, it covers a couple of things which are important. A quality site should have fast download speeds so that we can download many music MP3s in the shortest time possible. We all want to listen to our favourite songs quickly so do not let slow download speeds spoil our day. Another factor that makes a site a quality one is the customer support it offers. See if it offers round the clock technical support. Few can match up to this promise but there are a few which I found that would be revealed in my blog.

Try searching online and you are bound to come across dozens of music downloads sites for unlimited music downloads. But if you have followed this article so far, you should know that there are a host of factors to consider in selecting a good download site. For more details and a honest review of the top sites for unlimited music downloads, do read up my music blog.

Customer Review: My boys love this book.
This is a wonderful book of popular songs in Spanish, which my triplet boys latched onto immediately. The songs are very engaging, and each page has lovely artwork. I speak Spanish, and my boys were born in Spain. I have been trying very hard to help them maintain a little Spanish, and this book has been very helpful. It doesn't come with a CD, but you can easily learn the tunes of the songs if you know how to read music. And even if you only speak rudimentary Spanish, I think it's possible to learn the songs and enjoy them. This book quickly became the boys' favorite bedtime routine. I hear them singing the songs during the day as well. I highly recommend it.
Customer Review: Great book
I love the colorful pictures in this book and that it has music to all of the songs. It is a wonderful book and my baby loves when I sing to him!

A common problem among my students when it comes to approaching women has to do with creating an excitement around women they first interact with. A lot of these guys complain that there is no great way to bring a girl into a conversation and then keep her interested because the guy runs out of things to say to her.

A main consequence of this is the fact that she will make an excuse to leave the guy and the boring conversation behind her. When a guy is using too much canned material that he learned from another "Pick-Up Guru" and he is relying too much on those phrases and remarks, he can't just make the switch to his own conversational skills because he has none.

I have come up with a way in which you can set the mood with her high when you initially make contact with her and then keep getting the excitement level even higher using "Rapture Skills".

This set of seduction skills are perfect for inducing a girl to feel excited about any new topic you bring up that will actually correspond indirectly to the previous topic. This new skill will increase the new topic's potential for causing her to feel rapture just by listening to your new conversation with her.

LET HER BRING UP TOPICS THAT SHE IS MOST INTERESTED IN FIRST

The best way to get the ball rolling with using your new set of Rapture Skills is by asking the girl during the first approach with her what her favorite thing to do on the weekends are. She might say something like, "I like to go out with a few of my girlfriends and drink at my favorite nightclub." You can escalate her good feelings about being with her friends and drinking by saying, "I really like it when the music's pumping real loud and you look around and everyone's just getting totally wasted. I bet you know what I mean."

She will admit to having a great time at her nightclub and will even let you know what type of drinks she likes to have as well as describing to you the type of guy she likes to dance with. She will probably say, "Yeah. My friends and me like drinking Vodka shots and then we dance with each other until a guy just grabs me by the waist and I go off with him."

Now is the time to really set the rapture part of your conversation with her into outer space as you say, "So, it seems like you appreciate guys who take control of you on the dance floor. How about in real life? You like aggressive guys the best?" This kind of statement to her will make her visualize you as the type of guy who is not afraid to really show her that you mean business, just like the guys that grab her on the dance floor.

This type of conversation is obviously heading for a higher degree of sexual heat than ever before and she should respond with something like, "I guess so. Why? Are you a guy like that?" This is a perfect way for you to say something very ballsy to her and call her out on being so attracted to you already.

Anything But Fear

Zune music downloads can be found at the marketplace for 79 Microsoft points per song. Is that considered cheap? A quick survey and observation of many music lovers seem to suggest that they are finding other alternatives more attractive. Just what are they and how can you get the zune music downloads at rock bottom prices?

There are 3 ways to get music for your Zune at cheaper prices. I have listed them down as a guide for you.

1. Rip Music from a CD

You can rip music from the CDs in your private collection and transfer the songs to your player. Just use the Windows Media Player to do so and download them onto your device. It is easy and fast.

If you are looking for old songs, just head to the local music store or some thrift shops and check out the bargain corners. You are bound to find some CDs featuring top hits in the 70s all the way to 90s on sale at less than $4.99 per piece.

For the newer hits, it is going to be slightly tougher but if you are in college or in school, you can always borrow the latest album from a friend.

This method is conventional but can take some extra effort and time.

2. Download from Free Services

There are places where you can get zune music downloads for free. We are talking about services that offer new singers or unreleased songs as well as amateur self-written music productions. Occasionally, you do get to download non-copyrighted songs that have made it to billboard charts. Choices here can be limited though.

Some online music stores also offer you a couple of free song downloads when you start a trial account. You may get to download 3 to 5 songs for free. Do so at several sites and you can get a complete album together!

3. Paid Membership Services

You can also use a paid membership service to get zune music downloads conveniently. Major services like HMV, Walmart, Rhapsody sometimes offer songs and soundtracks at bargain prices for per download. Other ideal places are membership sites that give you unlimited access to millions of songs, music and music videos for your Zune.

For such paid membership services, you pay a fix price of lesser than $50 and you get a lifetime membership privilege to download as many songs for your Zune player as possible. There are no restrictions on bandwidth as well as when you are allowed to download. There are no operating hours as the service is available to you anytime, anywhere.

Of the 3 options available, it is pretty obvious that using a membership service seems to be the most cost effective and time saving option. Find out from my blog which are the current top 3 services for unlimited zune music downloads.
