De Colores and Other Latin American Folksongs for Children (Anthology)

Bursting with color and spirit, this collection of Latin-American songs is a tribute to Latino culture. From traditional tunes to rhymes and hand games, De Colores has songs for all occasions and moods. Each song is accompanied by simple musical arrangements, with lyrics in both English and Spanish. Slightly abridged from the original edition, this is ideal for classroom use, multicultural studies, or just plain fun.

Customer Review: My boys love this book.
This is a wonderful book of popular songs in Spanish, which my triplet boys latched onto immediately. The songs are very engaging, and each page has lovely artwork. I speak Spanish, and my boys were born in Spain. I have been trying very hard to help them maintain a little Spanish, and this book has been very helpful. It doesn't come with a CD, but you can easily learn the tunes of the songs if you know how to read music. And even if you only speak rudimentary Spanish, I think it's possible to learn the songs and enjoy them. This book quickly became the boys' favorite bedtime routine. I hear them singing the songs during the day as well. I highly recommend it.
Customer Review: Great book
I love the colorful pictures in this book and that it has music to all of the songs. It is a wonderful book and my baby loves when I sing to him!

Spanish is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world - perhaps as many as 400 million people speak the language. Apart from being spoken in Spain itself, the language is spoken in many other countries as well, including in most of Central and South America, in many Carribean countries, and in Equitorial Guinea in Africa (which was a Spanish colony until 1968). Additionally, there are many Spanish speakers in the United States of America (where Spanish is the second most widely spoken language).

Whether you plan on visiting a Spanish-speaking region or country, want to do business with Spanish speaking people, or simply hope to expand your knowledge of Latin culture, I am sure that you'll agree that learning the Spanish language, and eventually becoming a fluent Spanish speaker, would be a useful skill!

When most people think about learning a foreign language, they tend to think of going to classes, reading books, or perhaps using audio-tape based courses. However, one option that is increasingly popular is using your computer to help learn a language. There are in fact a wide variety of computer-based courses available for learning Spanish - some of these are are delivered on CD-ROMs, whereas others are delivered entirely through the Internet, which of course has the advantage of giving you immediate access to the course materials.

Obviously the language courses that are available from different manufacturers are different from each other, and in fact manufacturers may also update their courses from time to time as well. As result, what you may find in any particular computer language course can vary quite widely. The type of things that you might want to look for include audio tracks (if they are in MP3 format you may be able to listen to them both on your computer and download them to your iPod or portable MP3 player), tools to help you learn Spanish grammar, and interactive software programs which can help you learn Spanish vocabulary and help you recognize words spoken by native Spanish speakers.
