Ultimate Santana

2008 reissue housed in a deluxe cardboard slipcase. This single disc anthology brings the legendary guitarist's best recordings of his Arista Records era together with his greatest classics from the Columbia Records years on a single compact disc. Among the 18 tracks are the chart toppers 'Smooth', 'Maria Maria', 'Black Magic Woman', 'The Game Of Love' (with both Michelle Branch and Tina Turner), 'Oye Como Va' and many more. Sony/BMG.
Customer Review: big mistake
YUK! I just recently started downloading mp3s and really screwed up when I bought this thinking it would be the Carlos Santana music I knew in the 60s. What else would "Ulitmate Santana" mean? Instead most of the album is just Santana accompanying some bozo singing stupid disco type songs. My bad. Remember, when it says "featuring so-and-so" it usually means you better like so-and-so and not care too much about who the titled performer is.
Customer Review: Great songs, but...
Carlos Santana has very few bad albums, or even bad songs. (Stay away from his collaboration with John McLaughlin though.) If you're looking for a one-disk compilation and are familiar with his later songs plus his late 60's hits, the songs here will be familiar. But... try Caravanserai, Borboletta, or some of his other unbelievable albums from "in between". If this is all you know of Carlos Santana, you have a lot to discover! What you hear on this disk is just an introduction. I give this review 4 stars rather than 5 not because there are bad songs on this CD (there aren't), but because you, as a Santana listener, deserve more.

Community and educational theaters looking for an inexpensive play that will captivate their audience and stretch their actors skills have a hard time finding plays that can be produced for the entire family. Most of the good ones have been done over and over and it doesn't seem that many new ones have quite the fun-factor family audiences desire.

In 1975, an energetic young actress named Jane VanBoskirk discovered an 80 year-old play by Joaquin Miller. Miller, a poet of the late 19th Century, was designated "The Shakespeare of the Sierras" and wrote much about the gold rush. VanBoskirk scrounged a core of local actors and technicians and on a shoe-string budget produced and directed the smash hit of the Pacific Northwest. Touring the play to over 29 locations over a seven month period in 1976, the play was written up locally as "Beats the Freedom Train", and as the best good time in local theater in decades. Newspaper articles appeared as far away as the London Times where the English have long held Miller in high esteem. The play eventually secured grants from the American Revolution Bicentennial Commission of Oregon, and the Oregon Arts Commission.

Twenty years later, one of the original actors in VanBoskirk's production produced the play as an educational experience for local teens in Vidalia, GA. A minor grassroots arts grant helped fund the production. In addition to being a first acting experience for most of the young actors, it was the first look at American literature from that theatrical period. The most amazing experience was watching the young actors build, paint, create the scene settings, and discover that they could act on a stage with people watching.

The success of the productions is based on a solid script with a melodramatic ending, the inclusion of period music played well by local musicians on guitar, piano, and violin, and foot-stomping dance numbers. Period songs used as olios help set the mood. One line guaranteed to light up the audience is given when the villain is giving advice on winning the hand of the heroine to the young hero. He says, "Woo her, win her, wed her. Wear plenty of perfumery for few women can reason, but all women can smell."

Reviews of the VanBoskirk production were titled "Thar's Gold in this Show" and "Melodramas' Opening Night Beats the Freedom Train". Excerpts include "An assortment of colorful characters complicate the plot. A kindly, broken-down prospector, a total wreck of a drunk, and raucous barmaids had the audience stomping and hissing on opening night." "The cast dishes up a hearty helping of ham-n-corn, but the play is well adapted to this sort of excess. The actors have as much fun as the audience."

To sum it up, if you are needing a great play with loads of potential fun and appreciative audiences, "49" may be that nugget you've been digging for.

Getting to Know Panama

The word Panama means abundance of fish and butterflies. In addition to the variety of wildlife, one will also discover in Panama an abundance of great opportunities to live, retire or invest.

The population of Panama is approximately 3.2 million and its territory approximately 29,157-square miles. Panama possesses a democratic government and, consistent with the governance model for democratic states, is divided into three branches: legislative, judicial and executive, commonly referred to as separation of power. Panamas economy is very stable in part due to the circulating currency, which is the United States dollar. Furthermore, Panama possesses a first-rate banking system.

Panama is a great place to live and retire and is considered one of the most secure capital cities in the region, practically free from natural disasters. Its tropical climate has two seasons, the rainy and dry seasons. The entire year is usually like spring, with average temperatures ranging from 70F to 90F in the city.

Urban or Rural Retirement

Where to people want to retire? Some retirees may imagine their retirement in the country with a temperate mountain climate among vegetation, fresh breeze, beautiful rivers and a variety of flora and fauna. Others may want to spend their retirement lying on a white sand beach shaded by a palm tree from the vibrant sun, taking an occasional dip in the crystalline waters. Another option for retirees is to live in a high-energy city full of 5-star restaurants, casinos and commercial centers. Panama offers all of these options to the retiree. In Panama, the best of various worlds is concentrated in a warm, friendly country, perfect for retirement.

Quality of Life for the Retiree

The cost of living in Panama is moderate, and much less than in the United Status. Baby boomers can retire comfortably with a modest budget. Housing, public services, gasoline and other general expenses are accessible.

Many are surprised by the infrastructure in Panama City, as was George Bush on his official visit in 2005, commenting that he had not expected to find a modern city. Panama possesses the tallest buildings in Latin America, according the Web site http://www.skyscraperpage.com. Furthermore, from Tocumen International Airport in Panama City, flights leave everyday to important international destinations. In addition to a modern airport, Panamas highway systems and ports are well structured.

In terms of services, Panama has achieved impressive developments in communications, such as cellular phone coverage, various long-distance providers, broadband Internet and satellite and cable television.

Panama possesses excellent medical facilities and, like all professionals in the field, adheres to high quality standards.

Legal Incentives for Retirees

The local laws offer multiple benefits for foreigners, both retirees and investors. Some of the incentives include:

No taxes on income generated outside of Panama.

Discounts for retirees on medicine, medical attention, restaurants, movie tickets, public services, airline tickets and accommodations, among others.

Exoneration of taxes for a term of 10 to 20 years for the purchase of undeveloped real estate, depending on its value.

Panama welcomes retirees with open arms

A survey by the Panamanian Institute of Toursim (IPAT) revealed that the thing that tourists and foreigners residing in Panama liked most about Panama is the people. Panamanians warmth, friendliness and hospitality have won a place in the hearts of those who visit, with many choosing to stay.

But, there are not words to describe all that Panama has to offer. Come check it out for yourself!

Customer Review: 2nd copy
Lost my 1st...Not sure how! They just keep getting better and better in my opinion. If you like this one you HAVE to get Viva La Vida!
Customer Review: Average
6/21/08 Before you read this review check out Coldplay's latest CD "Viva la Vida". It is light years ahead of this CD "X&Y". I guess I am so addicted to Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, and other great bands of the 70s-80s that Coldplay falls flat on it's face for me. Or, my expectations of "almost uniformly" stellar British rock bands is unrealistic. As most people do when listening to music, one finds that you do compare the new with the old. And so, in fairness to the change in technology and my own personal taste, I compared this band to my current favorite in world rock music, the astonishing rock-your-rear-off Afro Celt Sound System Band whose singer Iarla O'Liondird's vocal range is so utterly astounding. (Even Josh Groban plays AFCSS at his live concerts). After listening four times to this CD "X&Y", I still found Chris Martin's nasal, and at times, irritatingly whiney voice boring and monotonously repetitive. He is up and down his vocal range over and over on nearly every song. About midway through the CD it felt like I was listening to the same song over and over with musical variations. For me the song lyrics were mostly juvenile and often trite. Especially on the song "X&Y". HOWEVER, Their band members' musicality and instrument talent is undeniable. For this reason I can say I somewhat enjoyed the CD. Overall, if I have to pick a listen to again, maybe, these songs merit a redux: "White Shadows"; "A Message"; "Low".

God Put a Smile Upon Your Face

The music of Korea is over 1000 years old. Isang Yun - a musician teaching in Berlin included Korean songs in his course which was later brought back to Korea. Like all other strong influences, war definitely had its impact on Korean music. Korean music is mostly influenced by shamanistic and Buddhist thoughts. The dance, drum and the sinawi dance music is clearly evident in folk music.

The Dongbu folk songs are unique in various areas and are typical about the styles. The songs from the Jeolla and chungcheong area are known as Namdo folk songs. They are full of drama and the collections are tasteful. The Pansori and the Sanjo were created out of Namdo music. The music of Jeju from Jeju Island is simple and rich in their compositions. The Pansori is actually a one man show which involves dialogues, enactment, dance and a drummer assists with the rhythm for the singer. The Pansori is done at a stretch for eight hours. It is actually required to make the voice hoarse by shouting, so as to become a Pansori singer. The props include a handkerchief and fan.

A troupe of thirty musicians performs the Nongak. The Sanjo is a tempo based playing which accelerates and moves to a high tempo. The musical instruments of Korea include Kayagum which can be played in the solo style, duet and as a group of three. The instrument has to be placed on the lap with the tail on the ground level. Tanso is the wind instrument and played along with the flute. The original bamboo of Tanso is now replaced by resin. The sound produced is pure melody. Yanggum is made of bamboo and is a string instrument almost as big as a piano. The fourteen keys which is now increased to the count of twenty six keys. Most of the string instruments of Korea in the contemporary folk times are made of silken threads.

There are bowed, plucked and struck varieties in the folk string instruments that encompass the Geum, Bipa, Sohaegeum and Yangguem. There are flutes, horns and oboes and mouth organs and also the jeok, so, Hwa, Dae piri and Nagak in the wind instrument folk variety. There are other chimes, gongs and cymbals of various varieties in the percussion musical instruments. Folk songs are still evident in the villages. Rituals, ceremonies and festivals mark the occasion with traditional Korean folk's songs. Though a evolution is also seen in the making of musical instruments, traditional Korean folk songs bring pure melody.

Now you can sing your favourite korean songs, graduation songs using the karaoke system. Please click the links to our websites for know information.

Wedding Videography is the new Photography. No a days all you hear about is how awesome Wedding Videography is. So what is it? Not everyone knows about it... yet! Let me give you some insight to how amazing Wedding Videography is and how much you'll want it at your picturesque Wedding day.

First off, Photography is great. You capture beautiful still shots that can be remembered forever. However, Videography is just a step above that. Not only can you capture amazing still shots of your beautiful Wedding day, but you are also able to hear voices, speeches, laughter, music, etc. Instead of seeing a still shot of you and your new spouse dancing that first dance together, you'll actually see the beautiful dance, your hear the emotional music, and will see the sweet tears.

Videography allows you in years to come to put the DVD into your player and watch the wedding day as if it was right before you. No more missing those small special moments anymore! With a Videographer rolling the camcorder at all times, you're sure to never miss a thing. Videographers are special people, who have to not only roll the camera, but has to make sure that the feeling and emotions felt that Wedding day is transferred over appropriately to film.

Taking footage and setting it to the music and style of your choice in the background, a Videographer goes though usually 16 hours of footage and brings back those special moments and emotional feelings by selecting scenes from the brides getting ready to the venue and shots of the decorations, to the ceremony, vows, tears, guests, dinner, first dance with your new spouse, dances with your parents, cake cutting, garter & bouquet toss, interviews with important guests and anything of importance that may have happened at your Wedding.

Many of the stars have started using Wedding Videography. Many interviews, one particular interview with a star, Christina Aguilera where she talks about how having a Wedding Videographer was the most important vendor to have at her wedding. Talking about how you can have your cake, flower, centerpieces, your dress, etc. But if you don't have someone to document your Wedding Day... all those things are worthless and wouldn't matter cause you wouldn't remember the Wedding day as it was ever again. I know many people that didn't have a Videographer at their Wedding and they say it was the worst mistake. Pictures are great.

However, Wedding Videography is just so much more. Videography is real, its people in motion, its spoken words, and its just real and that is so very important. Another option is if a guest at your Wedding video recorded parts of your Wedding, beg them for that footage! Once you've acquired the footage, take that footage to a Wedding Videographer and they can transfer that footage to a DVD for you and fix it so it becomes prettier, my stylish, and much more cinematic.

So don't let that happen to you! Make sure that the first vendor you acquire is a Wedding Videographer. You want to make sure you have one by your side to document the most special day of you life!

Rachel Latin Love (White Bikini, Close-Up) Framed Art Poster Print - 16" X 20"

This poster shows a close-up of Rachel Latin Love in a white bikini. At some point of your guitar playing career, you will discover The Beatles, in fact some players never recover from this intoxicating musical experience.

It's hard to imagine the musical world without this famous group. Whether you are an ardent Beatles fan or a working musician in a cover band it's important to able to authentically play some tunes.

There has been hundreds of articles, books etc written about The Beatles telling the reader "what" the Beatles did, I'm going to approach The Beatles music from a different perspective and look at "why" they did it.

By understanding "why" a particular group chose certain musical resources the guitarist/musician moves from merely imitating a sound to being able to create his or her own sound based on proven time tested musical examples and formulas... and as we all know The Beatles formula certainly works!

As most guitarists own an acoustic guitar the following tips are offered primarily in mind, however these ideas can be applied to electric guitar as well.

Tip 1. Blues progressions ...

Often guitarists underestimate the importance of learning to recognizing blues chord progressions by ear, in fact the term 'Blues' often conjures up images of smokey jazz clubs etc., something that the rock or pop guitarist may have no particular interest in at present.

It's important to keep in mind how groups like the Beatles learnt their craft. Countless hours of jamming with a good dose of blues chord progressions resulting in songs such as ...

Boys/ Chains/ Dizzy Miss Lizzy and Money (That's What I Want)

In addition to these blues based original compositions The Beatles or individual members of The Beatles often recorded cover versions of well known blues based tunes such as Kansas City and Be Bop A Lula (By Paul McCartney -Unplugged Album).

Tip 2. Harmonized scale ...

The Beatles are a very interesting group to study because of their mixture of blues styled songs blended with traditional classical music principals.

Whereas the blues scale is one of the most unique and frequently used scale in pop/ rock music because of it's flexibility and feeling The Beatles were aware of the benefit of using contrasting musical material that stem from European musical culture i.e., the European diatonic scales.

Listen to the final set of chords in "Let It Be" and you will hear a good example of how Paul McCartney harmonized scale in the descending chord progression.

"Let It Be" is in the key of C Major which produces the following chords: C major / D minor/ E minor/ F major/ G major/ A minor/ B diminished

As example of how Paul applies the harmonized scale would be if the basic chord progression is F major to C major, Paul would often play: F major to E minor then D minor and finally arrive at C major.

As you can see he simply played the two minor chords that exist in between the F major chord and the C major.

Tip 3. Slash chords ...

This is a favorite of the Beatles, a slash chord is written in the following manner: A/B

In this example the chord is represented by the first letter whilst the second letter identifies the specific bass note the composer wants to hear.

Therefore our chord would be an "A" major chord with a "B" note in the bass.

Have a listen to "The Long And Winding Road" for a classic example of this ambiguous sounding chord.

After the lyrics ... "The Long And Winding Road", you will hear two chords, that's our slash chords.

There's a wealth of rich chord progressions and musical ideas in the music of The Beatles waiting to be discovered by the guitarist with an inquiring mind. Persistent, patient study will reveal many new sounds that can be applied to all styles of music.

Customer Review: Fantastic
This DVD along with Live and Off the Record are simply fantastic. Shakira is the whole package from the voice of an Angel to a body...well, that's out of this world!! How could you not love this goddess!!!!!
Customer Review: Bought it for the price. Ended up liking it.
It was available for less than fifteen so I picked it up. I liked Shakira's first major Spanish album before her international success. I hadn't really listened to her newer stuff. When I put it in I was pleasantly surprised. The visuals are great and the sound is even better. To be honest I do skip a few songs whenever I watch it but I still consider it a good purchase for the price.

Oh what a weekend; exasperating days, nights of debauched behaviour and drunken antics!
What it is to live by the seaside! As the visitors arrive looking for fun; they implode with excitement and go ever so, slightly mad!

As they escape from far-away, congested cities to the serene lands of tranquil countryside and beautiful golden beaches. Do they revel in these exquisite surroundings? No, their ebullience is reserved for the frequenting of bars and getting decidedly smashed!

They came, they consumed and became inebriated; they were narrow minded and very, very loud. The insecure, exhibitionist of questionable intelligence claimed to be of an 'international (of the club scene) pop singer' status; he was not able to go out much, due to the weekly social club appearances. So a weekend at the seaside turned into a very depraved affair. Unfortunately for us they were staying next door.

We heard all about his iconic eminence in club land, his popularity; his expertise; we chuckled at his constant need for reassurance, "I'm good aren't I?"; "I'm the best aren't I?" We heard all about his gym, his personal trainer 'Dan' and his belligerent pursuit to a fitter, better body; we heard all about how he has forsaken his beloved pint for vodka and Red Bull, because Dan had advised him that it has less calories!
We heard a lot!

We ventured into town for the pre-requisite pub crawl, they were indeed ready for action; loud and adulterated; they vied for attention; they mocked; they resounded; unabashed they were obstreperous and crude.
The 'international pop star' did not care for the locals (too scruffy!) or the band of musicians in our parochial pub; he criticised the singer's voice, the sound, the music. As he vociferates to all of his disdain for bands. "Too much noise!"

So we were forced to encroach on the tacky bright lights of the tourist's Mecca. To a sweaty, smoky milieu of thumping dance music and cheesy party tunes that filtrates the ears but not the soul. Sticky floors of spilt cheap lager cling to our feet and imprison in us in this empty, shallow place of drunken stag / hen parties, excited teenagers and the decamped weekenders.
Where gaggles of girls giggle and dance; evoking moods of silliness they wear costumes to attract, like peacocks their strut, displaying their tails. Intoxicated males stumble in clusters; clutching with addled impetuosity at any passing females; any piece of meat! A blow up doll surfs the crowd; floating gracefully like a feather above the herds of marauding stags. As they wrestle and jostle in their boozy camaraderie.

As we watch from the sidelines the 'international pop star' elicits his moves on the dance floor; thrusting his body to the music, drawing on his stage routine, sliding on his knee's ; provoking attention, high on adulation he basks in his glory.
Oh, how they were drunk on merriment and excessive alcohol; oh, how they laughed, danced, poked fun and rambled aimlessly.

When the night was called and we stumbled home in the wee hours laughing gleefully; with not a care in the world.
But how the mood can change so abruptly! When the liquor, drenched atmosphere can incense and inflame.
In the middle of the night; in the early hours of the morn, contentions ignited and an argument did rage; screaming, shouting, swearing, banging, for the whole neighbourhood to hear. We cringed in our beds, we struggled to sleep; we longed for the weekend to be over and the visitors to leave!

As quickly as they arrived, they departed, leaving a trail of carnage and bitterness in our hearts. Why travel so far to insensate the mind? Why dissipate the body in tacky bars and overpriced clubs? Call that a holiday, when they do the same at home? To live by the seaside, the party town; with it's summer haze of drunken revelry and boisterous larks. How we pine for the winter and a glorious, desolate town!
